Food Word of the Week

This week’s Food Word of the Week is:
horchata

Horchata is a traditional, sweet and sometimes “milky” beverage made from ground sesame seeds, almonds, rice or barley.

Used in a sentence: Until I saw it made on Top Chef, I was under the impression that horchata was a hot, savory beverage, not a sweet, icy drink. I believed this to be the case because of the Vampire Weekend song called “Horchata” which I misheard as “hot chowder.”
