This week’s Food Word of the Week is:
Macaron (mack-a-rohn)
A macaron is a sweet cookie sandwich made with egg whites, sugar and ground almonds and filled with frosting or jam.
Used in a sentence: Patisserie 46 in Minneapolis has amazingly light, airy, melt-in-your mouth macarons in delicious and often creative flavors. On my last visit there, I did not see any *macaroons* — the toasted coconut confections dipped in chocolate — in their display case. I much prefer macarons to macaroons.
